Course Description
The course focuses on digital imaging in which the student designs a main character: for instance, a hero or anti-hero. Through lectures and practical exercises, the course provides a basic introduction to the design of characters. Tasks will be solved using several different types of materials and techniques, both analogue and digital.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The course has a workload of approx. 500 hours, including approx. 130 teacher-led hours in the workshop under supervision, lectures and guidance.
The course is characterised by an interaction between theory and practical work in materials. Students will develop their ability to make decisions and defend professional practices. The course includes lectures, demonstrations, workshops, study groups, project work and visual presentations. It also includes attendance at exhibitions and other cultural activities. Compulsory attendance is required for a large part of the course, which is indicated in the semester and year plans. Students will be responsible for their own learning. This means that each student must keep updated with respect to the syllabus literature and seek professional guidance. The acquisition of knowledge will, to a large degree, depend upon supervision of the learning processes and learning through action. Attendance and participation in an active, creative workshop environment is a fundamental and vital condition for getting the most out of the course.
Assessment Methods
All the assignments and course requirements must be completed, submitted on time (as indicated in the semester plan/year plan/period plan), and evaluated as passed in order for the course to be approved so that the student can receive final assessment. It is also a requirement that the student has at least 80% attendance of the teaching and counselling sessions that require mandatory attendance and active participation. Final assessment will be conducted on the basis of portfolio submissions. Portfolio requirements will be specified by the course teacher in good time before the submission deadlines.
A grade will be given on a scale from A to F, where A is the highest and E the lowest passing grade.
Please refer to Telemark University College’s examination regulations for further information.
