Workshop Training: Wood, Metal and Clay VERK 201
Learning outcome
After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge
The candidate has knowledge of:
- Workshops, machinery and equipment used in working with the materials wood, metal and clay adapted to the requirements of the course Sculpture (course code: SKULP 201)
- HSE requirements
Skills
The candidate:
- Can use machinery and equipment when working with the materials wood, metal and clay adapted to the requirements of the course Sculpture (course code: SKULP 201)
- Has acquired the necessary experience in the use of machines and tools that are used in the workshops
- Can use the workshops to produce specific objects
General competence
The candidate:
- Can in a safe and appropriate manner use the workshops when working in wood, metal and clay
- Has certificates that satisfy certain requirements that insurance companies require for people using the workshops for working with wood, metal and clay (defined in the semester plan)
Course Description
The course provides practical training for the safe use of workshops, machinery and equipment when working with wood, metal and clay
Teaching and Learning Methods
The course consists of approximately 130 work hours, including 70 teacher-led hours teacher.
The course includes workshop activities and training in the use of tools and equipment adapted to the assignments in the course (course code: SKULP 201)
- Lectures approx. 10 hours
- Demonstrations / instruction approx. 5 hours
- Supervision 55 hours
All tasks and course requirements must be submitted on time. Upon approval of the course requirements a workshop certificate and key card will be issued, which permit the use of the college’s workshops according to the current provisions.
Compulsory attendance
Compulsory attendance is required for parts of the course, which is indicated in the semester plan; guidelines for compulsory attendance in studies at the Faculty of Art, Folk Culture and Teacher Education apply. Compulsory attendance is regulated by Telemark University College’s Examination Regulations and the Norwegian Universities Act § 40 and § 46.3.
Assessment Methods
Students must take the practical exams in the following workshops:
- Wood workshop
- Metal workshop
- Clay workshop
Moreover, the candidate must pass a multiple choice exam.
A course grade will be given on a pass / fail basis. Certificates will be issued for the various workshops. Please refer to Telemark University College’s examination regulations for further information.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
