Course Objectives
Work towards deeper insight into project management, with a focus on project planning, project realisation, tenders, costs and uncertainty management in building and construction projects. NB! The subject is for civil engineering students, only.
Course Description
Project management aimed at building and construction projects. The building process: concepts, characteristics, phases, content and players. Models of accomplishment: contracting, tenders, contract types, contract forms, organisation and some contract standards. Cost estimation and cost monitoring. Project breakdown principles (WBS, OBS and CBS). Tenders process, project planning and follow-up techniques. Introduction to risk and uncertainty in projects.
Learning Methods
Lectures, practical assignments, and at times, guest lectures and/or study-excursions to relevant projects.
Assessment Methods
Written final examination (counts 100%). Individual or group assignments must be submitted and must receive "Accepted" in order to take the final exam. The assigments will be relevant to the final examination.
