Machine Drawing with 3D CAD MA1006
Course Objectives
Students will learn to apply principles of technical drawing and acquire skills in the use of appropriate modern computer aids for effective production of 3D models within machine drawing.
Course Description
Drawing rules, dimensioning, tolerances and fit, screws and threads, surface finishes and geometric tolerance.
Works measurements, principles and equipment.
Introduction to fundamentals of 3D modelling starting with the basics, user environment, profile build-up, drawing functions, multi-part construction, working drawing generation, drawing border and title block, modification, dimensioning, scaling, details, compilation, exploded drawings, component lists and printing/plotting of drawings
Students will sketch, measure and draw complete working/compilation drawings of selected machine parts.
Learning Methods
Lectures, supervision and drawing exercises.
Assessment Methods
Final written examination.
The examination is divided into 2 parts (50% each):
- Technical Drawing
- 3D CAD
Both parts of the examination must receive passing marks.
Students must have participated in the practical assignments in order to sit the final examination.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
