Development of nursing as a profession and science.
Course 1B: Nursing’s Scientific Foundation
Nursing science’s mandate
Knowledge and skills in nursing
Important areas in the basic knowledge of nursing
Clarification of phenomena, concepts, theories and models in nursing
Course unit 1C: Ethics I
Basic values in nursing
Views of human life
Basic ethics
Professional ethics

Classroom teaching, group work, work with programme assignments individually and in groups.

Course assignment 1: Nursing’s Professional and Scientific Foundation
Individual, written assignment which focuses on the principal concepts used in nursing.
The assignment will be assessed on a pass/fail basis.

Course assignment 2: Nursing’s ethical foundation
Group written assignment, which focuses on basic values, basic ethics and professional ethics in nursing.
The assignment will be assessed on a pass/fail basis.
