Project MA4 – Machine Parts Construction and Advanced 3-DAK MA4506

Course Objectives

Students will acquire knowledge of mechanical engineering construction work, including use of catalogues and selection of components. They will acquire knowledge regarding strength analysis and the dimensioning of common machine parts. They will also acquire knowledge and skills in the use of computer tools for 3D modelling and machine construction.

Course Description

The project consists of the thorough preparation of a mechanical engineering assignment which should include analysis, assessment and choice of principle solutions, construction, strength analysis and dimensioning, choice of materials and documentation regarding the use of norms and standards. The documentation of the project assignment should be comprehensive and include function principles, specifications, strength analysis and dimensioning, material and qualities, sketches and drawings. The drawings should be carried out using the relevant version of the 3D DAK programme. Modelling and construction of welded constructions and sheet construction as well as comparisons.

Learning Methods

Project and supervision in groups.

Lectures, supervision and obligatory drawing assignments.

Assessment Methods

The assessment will be based on:

  1. Project execution, project report as well as the project examination (60%).
  2. Advanced 3D DAK. Final written examination (40%).

Both parts must receive passing grades.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
