Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide students with deeper insight into genetic processes and the interaction between heredity and environment.

Course Description

Central themes:
 The basic principles of hereditary characteristics
 The interaction between genes and environment
 Coupling, recombination and genetic-mapping
 Bacteria and viral genetic systems
 DNA replication and recombination, transcription and translation
 Mutations and DNA repair
 Recombinant DNA technology and genomics

45 hours of lectures
Obligatory: practice exercises

Assessment Methods

Written 4-hour final examination, which must receive a passing grade. Submitted practice exercises must be approved prior to taking the final examination.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
