Course Objectives

The course shall provide background for environmental-hygienic work, with particular emphasis on food hygiene.

Course Description

Central themes:
- Health problems associated with various polluting micro-organisms.
- Different preventative measures against contagion.
- Hygienic requirements for drinking water.
- Micro-biological laboratory tests for food and water.

Learning Methods

50 hours of lectures/seminars
Obligatory: 4 days of laboratory exercises

Assessment Methods

Grades will be given for two part-exams with portfolio evaluations: one examination with multiple-choice questions which counts for 30% and a final 4-hour examination which counts for 70% of the final grade. All the part-exams must receive passing grades.
The report from the laboratory exercises must be approved before the student may take the final examination.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
