Ecology 4105

Course Objectives

After completing the course the students will have been introduced to the different theoretical concepts within community, population, behavioural and plant ecology. This theoretical background is essential in order to understand the theoretical basis for e.g. wildlife management and conservation biology. Students should also be able to understand the relationship between plant distribution and environmental conditions, and how plants and vegetation can be used as environmental indicators.

  • Behavioural ecology
  • Autecology and plant physiology
  • Interactions between plants and environmental factors
  • Distribution of Norwegian plants
  • Vegetation zones and vegetation sections of Norway
  • Plants as environmental indicators

Learning Methods

50 hours of lectures

Assessment Methods

Grades will be assigned for two examinations: a multiple choice exam (1 hour) and a final exam (4 hours) that count 30% and 70% of the final grade, respectively. Both exams must receive passing grades before a final grade is given for the course.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
