Course Objectives

Calculate voltage surges in high voltage network. Understand system components as cables, fuses, switches, and surge arresters of high voltage installations.

Course Description

Lightning surges and their propagation in an electric network, coupling surges, temporary surges. High voltage components: cables, fuses, switches, and surge arresters. Electric breakdown mechanisms. The application of relevant computer programs.

Learning Methods

Lectures, exercises, laboratory work, and a field trip.

Assessment Methods

Under way exams and tests (30 %), final exam (70 %). Final exam has to be passed in order to get a grade.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
