Course Objectives

This course will provide students with the knowledge of basic concepts of linguistic analysis at all levels. The course is obligatory for students who wish to take the BA in Language and Literature with specialisation in English or Norwegian; it is also suitable as an introduction to any languages programme of study, and may be taken as an independent programme of study.

Course Description

The course focuses on the following topics: basic linguistic concepts, phonetics, phonology, semantics, morphology, syntax, socio-linguistics and diachronic linguistics.
