Course Objectives

Students will gain insight into principal aspects of Norwegian literature and history from the Middle Ages up until about 1900. The syllabus consists of works and shorter texts from the period, as well as literature history, literature theory and methodology.

Course Description

Norwegian literature and history from the Middle Ages up until about 1900.

Learning Methods

Autumn semester, 6 hours per week for a period of 15 weeks. Lectures and seminars and group work.

Assessment Methods

Individual home assignment, written in Norwegian, which counts for 25% of the final mark. Examination aids are permitted in the 8-hour take home assignment. A 5-hours final examnination in English counts for 75% of the final mark. Students must receive passing marks in both the assignment and the final examination.
