Course Objectives

The students will gain insight into principal aspects of Norwegian literature and history from about 1900 up until the present day. The syllabus consists of works and shorter texts from the period, as well as literature history, literature theory and methodology. There is also a course concerning the most recent literature.

Course Description

Norwegian literature after 1900.

Learning Methods

Spring semester. Two weekend gatherings (each of two days), web lessons, group meetings on web. Assignments and other materials will be posted in Fronter. Teachers will be available on Skype two hours a week.

The course is part of the Bachelor degree Literature and Language specialisation in Norwegian, as well as the Norwegian, 1-year Programme. The course is obligatory for students who wish to gain teaching competence in Norwegian in primary and secondary schools.

Assessment Methods

Individual home assignments and a 5-hour final examination. The students will take home 3 assignments of 2000-3000 words each. The best two will count for 40 % of the final mark, and the final examination counts for 60 %. Both assignments and final examination must be written in bokmål. Students must receive passing marks in both the assignments and the final examination.
