Course Objectives

After completing course 3 students will have:

Knowledge
• basic knowledge of public administration organization and the distribution of tasks and responsibilities at national, regional, county and municipal levels
• basic knowledge of the legal system, human rights, welfare law, administrative law and legal methods
• basic knowledge about key health and social policies, welfare state development and relevant professions
• understanding of welfare policies in an international perspective

Professional competence
• an understanding that knowledge of administrative law, law and policies are part of professional practice and a prerequisite for active participation in work involving the living standards and quality of life of vulnerable groups.

Course Description

The content of the course is based on the national curriculum’s requirements regarding the distribution of credits, which functions as a guideline for the clarification of the course plan.

National and municipal knowledge, health and social policies – 7 ECTS credits; the legal system, legal methods and administrative law – 2 ECTS credits; ethics and professional roles – 1 ECTS credit.

Learning Methods

Self-study; lectures and assignments (individual and groups).

Assessment Methods

Course code: 060-E3: Basic knowledge of administration – assessment assignment.

Individual response within a timeframe of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. without supervision. Graded marks.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
