Practical Training Studies: Social Education Work 060-E5

Course Objectives

Students will:

Knowledge
• have knowledge of what environmental professional social work involves in practice

Skills
• be able, under expert guidance, to plan, document, implement and evaluate their own work
• be able, under supervision, to practice guidance in relation to users
• be able to identify ethical value conflicts and have the ethical competence to act in interaction with users and staff

Competence
• have developed an understanding of what professional social education work involves and be able, under guidance, to apply this in practice
• have reflected on ethical issues; have an ethical action plan and be able to identify ethical value conflicts
• have an understanding of the legal regulation of user involvement, volunteerism and coercion

Course Description

The content of the course is based on the national curriculum’s requirements regarding the distribution of credits, which functions as a guideline for the clarification of the course plan.

General pedagogy and social pedagogy - 2 ECTS credits; nursing and care - 5 ECTS credits; skills and behavioral learning - 5 ECTS credits; welfare work - 2 ECTS credits; communication, interaction and conflict resolution - 2 ECTS credits.

Learning Methods

Self-study, group work, practical training, written and oral presentations and guidance. The practical training studies are guided by 1 hour of supervision per student per week at the practical training location, and they will be followed up individually and in reflection groups by the college teacher.

Assessment Methods

Course code: 060-E5: Social education work – assessment assignment

The assessment assignment is based on the practical training studies in social education work. Individual written assignment (3000 words); Pass / Fail.
There may be as many as four course requirements; one of these is the approval of the practical training studies. The course requirements must be approved before the completion of the course can be approved. The course requirements are described in the course plan.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
