Learning outcome
Knowledge
The candidate has knowledge of:
- The factors that contribute to children and young people living in situations of neglect
- The social, psychological and health consequences of living in situations of neglect
- How measures can be implemented within the framework of relevant laws and regulations
Skills
The candidate can:
- Assess children and young people’s lives, care needs and parents / other care persons care skills
General competence
The candidate:
- Understands the importance of attachment and breakdown in relationships between caregivers and children
- Is able to work in relationships characterized by cross-pressures and conflicts of interest, and manage conflicts with a focus on children and young people’s interests
Course Description
The content of the course is based on the national curriculum’s requirements regarding the distribution of credits, which functions as a guideline for the clarification of the course plan.
Sociology and Social Anthropology - 1 ECTS; Legal System, Legal Methods and Administrative Law - 1 ECTS; Child Welfare Law and Other Areas of Law - 2 ECTS; General, Developmental and Social Psychology - 2 ECTS; Clinical Psychology and Mental Health - 3 ECTS; Pediatrics and Social Medicine - 4 ECTS; Ethics and Professional Roles - 1 ECTS; Communication, Interaction and Conflict Resolution - 1 ECTS.
Teaching and Learning Methods
Self-study, lectures, videotapes of skill training, field work and group work.
Assessment Methods
Course code: 070-E7: Assessment of Care Skills – assessment assignment
The response will focus on an evaluation of the execution of care. Individual response (4000 words). Graded marks.
There can be as many as three course requirements, which must be approved before the completion of the course can be approved. The course requirements are described in the course plan.
