Learning outcome
The course will provide students with knowledge of basic concepts in relation to linguistic analysis at all levels. It provides a good introduction to language studies, and is a mandatory course in the Bachelor’s degree study programme, Language and Literature with specialization in English or Norwegian. The course can also be taken independently.
Course Description
The course focuses on linguistic topics: phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax and analysis, theories concerning the interpretation of linguistic expressions, language variation and language change. Special emphasis will be given to providing students with various concepts and analytical tools that will be helpful in further language studies.
