Learning outcome

Students will after completed the course gain:

  • comprehensive insight on what may occur in a company without an established organization with knowledge of the IPR area.
  • have good knowledge of how to find the right sources for investigating IP questions.
  • good knowledge of the main challenges related to the enforcement of the intellectual property rights of businesses and skills in how we interpret the agreements related to IPR area.

Course Description

The course provides knowledge on the protection and management of tangible and intangible assets in commercial establishments, and why this is important in relation to their own business. What would happen if we violate another party's exclusive right and why it is important for any organization having a basic knowledge of intellectual property rights
The basic themes are the themes copyright, patent, design and trademark agreement and understanding.

Teaching and Learning Methods

3-5 hours lecture and guidance per week during the fall semester.
teamwork on specific assignments throughout the semester with mandatory milestones.

Assessment Methods

Portfolio assessment: Obligatory group assignments which must be submitted in several parts. All of the assignments must receive passing marks.

Individual examination (multiple choice) related to one of the course units.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
