- Concepts and theories of culture, ethnicity, socialization, roles, gender, groups and social systems
- The legal framework for the practice of nursing and local health services
- How local health services are organized
- Local health promotion and preventive care
- The relationship between social development, living conditions and individual health problems
Skills
The candidate can:
- Explain and apply psychological, educational and sociological / socio-cultural theories to practical and theoretical issues
- Reflect upon the nurse’s opportunities for improving public health in the municipality

Course Description
- Psychological theories of human development, perception, emotion, motivation, learning, memory and loss of memory
- Sociological concepts and theories about how people interact with their environment
- Socio-anthropological concepts and theories about how people interact with their environment
- The legal framework for the municipal health services
- The legal framework for nursing practice
- The welfare state’s development and framework
- The organization of the municipal health services
- Social factors that affect living conditions and create health problems
- Public health, with a focus on prevention and health promotion
Teaching and Learning Methods
Subject literature studies, digital learning resources, resource lectures and work in learning groups, clinical studies and project work. Guidance in learning groups and seminars.
Assessment Methods
Group project assignment; assessed with a grade.
