The candidate has knowledge of:

  • Decision-making in the specialist health services
  • Research and development in specialized practical skills in nursing

Skills

The candidate can:

  • Demonstrate professional communication skills in relation to the acutely ill and their families
  • Apply decision-making processes in nursing practice in the specialist health services
  • Demonstrate specialized practical nursing skills founded on evidence-based principles
  • Demonstrate and perform first aid - Defibrillation

General competence

The candidate can:

  • Communicate knowledge related to the contents of the course theoretically and by practical demonstration

  • Professional communication in the case of acute, critically ill and dying patients and their families
  • Decision-making in the specialist health services
  • Specialised practical skills in nursing
  • First Aid - Defibrillation

Teaching and Learning Methods

Subject literature studies, digital learning resources, resource lectures and learning groups.

Assessment Methods

Individual test in specialist nursing skills in the Simulation Centre. Assessed on a pass/fail basis.

Approved skills in defibrillation; assessed on a pass/fail basis.
