Learning outcome
Knowledge
The candidate:
- Can give an account of the frameworks, development and central concepts in social education work and education from a historical perspective, as well as the current situation
- Can give an account of the concept of culture, give examples of multicultural issues and be able to recognize his/her own cultural values and cultural practices
- Can account for causation in relation to disability in general and mental retardation in particular
Skills
The candidate:
- Can work in groups as a learning method in his/her studies
- Can identify, test and evaluate his/her own relationship skills and communicative actions
General competence
The candidate:
- Has knowledge of important social educational and professional ethics issues
- Understands equality-related issues
Course Description
The content of the course is based on the national curriculum’s requirements for the distribution of credits, which function as a guideline for the clarification of the course plan.
Sociology and Anthropology - 2 ECTS; Law - 1 ECTS; General, Developmental and Social Psychology - 2 ECTS; Medical and Natural Science Subjects - 3 ECTS; Mental Health - 1 ECTS; The Discipline’s Development, Ideology, Ethics and Professional Roles - 6 ECTS; Skills and Attitudes Learning - 2 ECTS; Working with Groups, Organizations and Networks - 1 ECTS; Communication, Interaction and Conflict Resolution - 2 ECTS.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The course includes lectures, self-study, group work and presentations.

Course code: 061-E1: Social Education Work
Individual 6-hour examination (under supervision) based on the expected learning outcomes for the course; graded.
The course includes a maximum of three pieces of required work, which must be approved before the completion of the course can be approved. The course requirements are described in the course plan.
