Skills
- Be able to wax ski for different snow conditions
- Be able to ski in different terrain and under different snow conditions
- Be able to ski in - and out of ski tracks
- Be able to use different cross-country and telemark skiing techniques
- Be able to build a snowpark for ski playing
- Be able to discuss practical and pedagogical issues concerning basic skiing skills
- Be able to discuss and use historical facts according to Norwegian skiing tradition
General competencies
- Be able to introduce basic skiing technique to a group of novices
Course Description
Content
Basic skills in skiing
• Experiential learning and experiential skiing
• Cross-country skiing
• Backcountry skiing - Telemark skiing
• High activity - many repetitions
• Clothing and equipment
• Historical perspectives- traditions and trends
Assessment Methods
Participation in the classes are compulsory. The form of evaluation is chosen to insure that students achieve a some practical experience with skiing during the course
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
