Learning outcome

The course covers the requirements in Norwegian language that will enable the student to study at Norwegian universities and university colleges.

On completing the course, the student will have gained skills in reading, writing and speaking Norwegian with fluency.

Course Description

The course focuses on the following subject areas: Norwegian language and Norwegian civics; these two areas will be integrated as far as possible. The main focus will be on the Norwegian language, particularly practical language skills.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Lectures, group work, exercises and homework. Attendance is obligatory. Students must attend at least 80% of the instruction to be allowed to take the examination. The course also includes required excursions and “winter-week” in the mountains; students will incur expenses of roughly NOK 1500 – 2000.

Assessment Methods

The course will conclude with a final examination, which includes writing an essay, a listening test, text comprehension and grammar exercises.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
