Course Description
- Stoichiometry, gases and chemical equilibria
- Atomic structure, chemical bonds and intermolecular forces
- Lewis-notation and VSEPR-theory
- Acids and bases, buffer solutions, titrations and solubility
- Thermochemistry
- Electrochemistry
- Phase diagrams, solutions and colligative properties
- Reactions rate
- A laboratory course that contains exercises of general chemical types and analysis of substances from nature and daily life.
Assessment Methods
In the laboratory course the students shall write reports from the practical exercises. These reports must be approved before the last exam.
The exam consists of two individual written tests, one in the middle of the semester and one at the end of the semester. Each test lasts for 4 hours, and each counts for 50 % of the mark. Both of the exams should be passed. The marks are given from A to F.
The laboratory exercises and the group exercises are obligatory for the students.
We reserve the right to make small changes in the plan.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
