Learning outcome

After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes:

  • knowledge of technology, standards and languages related to databases and web
  • skills in the development of database driven web applications
  • skills in the use of relevant development tools for web

Course Description

Database driven web applications; architecture and development. Server side programming: HTML forms, class libraries for database programming, files, sessions, security. Business logic in the database server, using stored procedures and triggers. Client side programming. AJAX. XML, validation of XML using DTD and XML Schema. Web services.

Teaching and Learning Methods

4-5 hours of lectures, exercises and guidance per week.

Assessment Methods

A 4-hour written, individual examination. A number of obligatory assignments submitted during the course must be approved before the student will be permitted to sit the final examination.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
