Learning outcome
After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence.
Knowledge
The candidate has knowledge of:
- General training theory and management in order to plan and arrange various sports activities at different levels
- Key training methods and principles
- Key practical pedagogical principles in the management of sports activities
- Research and development within the field
Skills
The candidate can:
- Organize exercises and facilitate activities that encourage enjoyment of sport for children and young people
- Plan, implement and evaluate training for a specific group
General competence
The candidate can:
- Communicate professional topics both orally and in writing
- Work independently with a given problem
- Relate to new problem areas and analyse topics independently
- Use information and search tools
Course Description
- Training methods: warming up, mobility, techniques, strength, agility, speed and endurance
- Training plans
- Recovery
- Sports injuries
- Growth and development
- Practical pedagogical principles: form and content
- Planning and carrying out activities for a specific group
Teaching and Learning Methods
The course combines general knowledge of training theory and management with practical learning through planning and performing sport activities. Consequently, the course includes varied methods of teaching and learning such as seminars, lectures, practical work and project work with supervision.
Assessment Methods
- Portfolio submission: weighting 100%.
- Completed and passed practical pedagogical assignments.
- At least 80% attendance and active participation: graded pass/fail.
All parts of the course must be completed and assessed with a passing mark in order to achieve a final passing mark for the course.
