Learning outcome
After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence.
The candidate has:
- An overview of the factors that affect companies’ international business activities and their choices, in particular economic, political, legal, technological, cultural and environmental conditions
- An overview of what is being done internationally to simplify and improve conditions for international trade
- An understanding of the most important ethical issues, and is able to discuss ethical dilemmas in international business
- Knowledge developed through working with cases and discussions of how companies adapt to different conditions
- Skills that enable him/her to evaluate the factors in an international market that are most important in shaping company’s adaptations and choices in a given situation
Course Description
The course will provide an overview of the most important topics in the field. The following topics will be covered:
- Characteristics of international business activities
- Important location-related factors
- Ethics in international business activities
- Economic framework, including foreign exchange and trade policies
- Management and leadership in international business activities
Practical examples will be emphasised.
Teaching and Learning Methods
3-4 hours of lectures a week in the spring semester.
Assessment Methods
- Written assignment, counts 50%
- Written examination, 3 hours, counts 50%
All parts must be passed, graded
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
