5604 Multimedia
Course Objectives
The course will provide students with knowledge and experience concerning multimedia, i.e. how present-day technology enables various sources of media types to be integrated into
a single-system framework. The course will also provide basic background on techniques, standards and areas of use.
Course Description
Theory and practice concerning the use of texts, graphics, images, sound, animation and video. Various kinds of equipment and techniques for capturing images, transforming, storing and presenting various media. Integration and distribution on the Internet. Practice is based on the use of multimedia tools.
Learning Methods
6-7 hours of lectures and practice per week in the autumn semester.
Assessment Methods
Two 1-hour individual, written mid-term examinations and an individual, written 3-hour final examination. The mid-term examination counts for 40% of the final grade and the final examination counts for 60%. Obligatory assignments must be approved before students will be permitted to sit the examination. All parts of the assessment must receive passing marks.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
