Course Objectives

The students will become acquainted with the principal concepts, methods and languages used in programme development, and will be introduced to modern developmental tools. They will become capable of designing simple applications with graphic user-interfaces in an object-oriented programming language.

Course Description

Programmes and programme-execution. Programming tools. Documentation and testing. Important constructions in an object-oriented programming language: Variables, data formats, expressions, iteration (loops), classes, objects, methods, parameter transfers, correlation between objects, tables and object-groups. File management and exception management. Graphic user-interfaces and action-based programming. Introduction to sub-classes and programming interfaces.

Learning Methods

6 hours of lectures, exercises and guidance per week during the spring semester.

Assessment Methods

1-hour, individual written mid-term examination and a 4-hour, individual written final examination. The mid-term examination counts for 20% of the final grade and the final examination counts for 80%. Obligatory assignments given during the course must be approved before the student may be permitted to sit the final examination. All examinations must receive passing marks.
