2150 Practical Norwegian
Course Objectives
Students will acquire further knowledge of Norwegian, and gain practice in using the language in various communicative situations, focusing on public administration. The course is aimed at students who wish to learn how to write better Norwegian in examinations, term papers, project reports etc., and for those who will later use Norwegian in the public and private sectors. Emphasis will be placed on enabling students to develop a more precise and correct mode of expression, and on approaching particular topics when writing. Participants will practice giving an account of a topic, approach questions related to the topic and forward personal viewpoints. Examples will be taken from the relevant administrative fields.
Course Description
Practice in using Norwegian in public administration.
Learning Methods
Autumn and spring semesters – more specific information will be provided before the course begins. 2 hours per week for a period of 10 weeks. Lectures, seminars, practical exercises and individual supervision.
Assessment Methods
2 written assignments which must be submitted and approved. A 4-hour final examination which will be allocated a graded mark. The final examination must receive a passing mark. Language variant: Students may choose Bokmål or Nynorsk.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
