KJ5506 Project KJ5 Plant Design
Course Objectives
- To gain insight into how a process technique-based unit may be planned, evaluated and constructed.
- To develop one’s ability to consider technical, economic and environmental factors as interdependent parts of a whole.
Course Description
The project consists of considering a process-technique based unit with respect to external and internal requirements.
The project efforts may involve: Analysis, choice of process. Evaluation of chemical engineering units and energy demands. Parameter studies of chemical engineering units. Economic considerations. Choice of materials, safety and environmental factors (internal/external). Social consequences. HYSYS (a process simulation environment programme) will be used for calculations.
Learning Methods
Supervision in groups.
Assessment Methods
A written project report will be submitted and there will be an oral examination on the project. The project report, work carried out during the course, and the oral examination will jointly determine the final grade.
The grade for the project will fall between A and F.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
