Electric Power Systems EK5215
Læringsutbytte
After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence.
Knowledge
The candidate can:
- Give a description of key concepts in Electric Power Systems
- Explain the various calculation methods, differentiate between them and justify when they should be applied
Skills
The candidate can:
- Master the use of complex mathematical calculations in single and 3-phase circuits
- Carry out calculations of various factors relating to transfer systems
- Use relevant simulation tools associated with electrical equipment and interpret results
- Use metering devices in Electric Power Systems through laboratory work
General competence
The candidate can:
- Demonstrate good attitudes and behaviour in HSE in relation to laboratory work
Innhold
The course describes and explains the various calculation techniques in the transmission of electrical energy.
- Apply and understand complex calculations in which phasors (angle and direction) are used for recognizing symmetrical and asymmetrical three-phase circuits and solving various problems.
- Voltage drop (ΔU), power loss (ΔP), and the calculation of short-circuit currents.
- Enter relevant data in the computer tools, process and analyze the results and provide assessments.
- Draw a circuit diagram of a 3-phase transmission line, connect both circuit and associated measuring equipment in the laboratory. Perform the necessary measurements and communicate conclusions and assessments of results (students working individually or with others in a group).
- Knowledge of the SmartGrid concept.
