932 Physical Education, Sports, Culture and Society
Innledning
This study programme is only taught in English.
The study programme is organised into 2 modules – an autumn module (30 ECTS) and a winter/spring module (30 ECTS). Students can chose one of them - or both.
Play (experimental learning), sport and outdoor life are cultural and social phenomena undergoing constant change. The study programme examines the relationship between sport, culture and society in the context of Norwegian society. The main emphasis will be on how the cultural and historical variations in sports, culture and society influence social relations.
Students will utilise their own background and experiences in relation to physical education, sport, culture and society, and this will constitute an important contribution in their successful completion of the study programme. Outdoor life and activities in nature are important elements in Norwegian sports and cultural understanding and through trips, practical activities and theoretical discussions the study programme will emphasise this, while in addition to placing these topics in an international perspective. Didactic reflections are also an important part of this programme.
