Biodiversity and Environmental Management 4305
Læringsmål
The course objective is to give the students more advanced knowledge in principles of environmental and biodiversity management in Lithuania and Norway. Special attention will be given to how knowledge in genetic and evolutionary toxicology should be taken into consideration in nature management. Both botany and zoology will be included. The lectures and excursions will be given both in Lithuania and Norway, and special focus will be given on comparisons between the two countries.

The course will focus on the following issues:
- environmental management authorities
- environmental policy and legislation
- environmental quality management and restoration
- natural resources and biodiversity management
- management of protected areas
- environmental monitoring
- measurement of species diversity
- biodiversity and red-listed species
- ecotoxicologi and species diversity
- genetechnology and species diversity
- monitoring of species diversity
- indicator organisms, and their use in environmental management

Vurderingsformer
The evaluation will be based on one group projects (40%), and two written final exam (30 % each).
