Læringsmål

This course will allow students to consolidate their basic Norwegian writing and speaking skills and develop appropriate vocabulary and language structures, confidence and understanding of culture to read about, write about and discuss current issues.

Innhold

This is an intermediate language course is designed for students that have previous knowledge of the Norwegian language. The course builds on basic knowledge of Norwegian grammar and pronunciation; oral and written comprehension to stimulate natural and spontaneous conversation. You will expand vocabulary and language structures while exploring the local community culture. Conversation and composition topics will relate to present-day Norway, historical events, current issues reflected in the media.

Organisering

Fall or spring term, 4 hr/week. (This course is offered on a rotational basis)
Lectures, conversation and discussion practice in groups, individual study, short response papers, essays, oral presentations, community interaction. Norwegian is the course language.

Vurderingsformer

Weekly homework assignments: pass/no pass; two semester tests total 50 %; Final written/oral exam counts 50%. All assessed elements of the course must be passed to pass the course.
