Knowledge about devices and interconnection of modern industrial information technology.

Innhold

Relay-based control PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), PACs (Programmable Automation Controllers), DCS (Distributed Control Systems), and safety systems. Human-machine interfaces. Relevant presentation of process data. Process databases. Data communication in industrial environments, including bus standards, wireless networks, and security. Real time operating systems and real time programming. Embedded systems and embedded control. Integration of combinatory and sequential control with continuous-time control (PID control). Testing of control systems involving e.g. hardware-in-the-loop simulation. Alarm systems.

Organisering

Lectures, laboratory work, excursions and assignments.

Vurderingsformer

Individual written final test counting 70% of the final grade; Project work and assignments counting 30% of the final grade.

The project, the assignments, and the exam must be passed to get a final grade better than F.
