Læringsutbytte

After completing the subject the candidate should have the following learning outcomes in terms of knowledge, skills and competence:
· Understand and explain entrepreneurship as a complex phenomenon
· Understand and explain entrepreneurial processes and the different stages of such processes
· Understand and explain how ideas are generated, and when an idea represent a business opportunity
· Be able to analyze and evaluate feasibility of business ideas
· Be able to conduct industry and competitor analysis, and understand how such analysis provide a basis for strategic decisions
· Know the different components of business models
· Know the components and the content of business plans
· Be able to evaluate teams, identify competence needs and gaps, and know strategies to fill such gaps
· Know different challenges new ventures face, such as funding, marketing issues and growth
· Understand motivations for becoming an entrepreneur

Innhold

The course covers the following topics:

  • The phenomenon of Entrepreneurship
  • Different types of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship in various sectors
  • The entrepreneurial process from idea generation to implementation and further development
  • Opportunity identification
  • Business feasibility and feasibility analysis
  • Purpose and techniques for industry and competitor analysis
  • Developing effective business models
  • Business plans
  • New venture teams
  • Marketing issues in entrepreneurial firms
  • Funding – sources and strategies
  • Further development and growth of the new venture
  • The Entrepreneur
  • Entrepreneurship education

Arbeids- og læringsformer

Lectures, in-class discussions and exercises, and group work based on real business cases

Vurderingsformer

Group assignment (field) which counts for 40% and individual written examination counts 60%. All examinations must receive passing marks in order to receive a final course grade.
