Objectives
The course will provide the opportunity for students to increase their oral and written competence in English for special purposes appropriate to international requirements. The specific focus will be in the area of international marketing, travel and tourism and business administration in general.
Innhold
Description
The fall course will primarily focus on oral activities; the spring course will deal with written activities. The students will read and discuss business communication texts and business cases. Fall curriculum includes such topics as: perspectives on and barriers to communication; interviewing, preparing and giving presentations, developing ac CV in English, meetings. The spring curriculum will focus on developing written business communication skills: documents such as letters, memos, reports, news releases, surveys. Further, the students will gain insight into aspects of culture in English-speaking countries.
Organisering
Learning Methods
Lectures, group work, individual tasks, written exercises, oral presentations, report writing, email communication, case-studies and discussions. The language of instruction is English.
Vurderingsformer
Fall semester: 4-5 mandatory written exercises to be approved. Oral examination. All elements of the assessment must be passed to pass the course.
Spring semester: 4-6 written exercises to be approved. 3-hour written, individual examination. All elements of the assessment must be passed to pass the course.
