An Introduction to Norwegian History for International Students 2616

Provide an introduction to the most important periods and events in Norwegian history from the Viking age to the present.
Innhold
The textbook will provide the broad outline of Norwegian history for the period in question (i.e. roughly AD 800 to the present), whereas the lectures and the literature accompanying them will focus on selected periods, aspects and characteristics that either mark major turning points or are perceived as being of particular interest to non-native students.
Organisering
24 hours of teaching (i.e. lectures and teacher-led seminars), plus orientation meetings and follow-up sessions. Two one-day study trips. Spring term.
Attendance: min. 80 percent.
Teaching language: all lectures, seminars and oral presentations are in English. Written papers and exams may be in either Norwegian or English.
Vurderingsformer
Journal, oral presentation, term paper. All assessed elements in the course must be passed in order to pass the course. All work produced for the course must be original and not previously used in other courses. The journal and the oral presentation are given a pass/fail mark. The term paper is marked with the standard A-F scale.
