Target Group and Admission Requirements

The study programme is intended for students who wish to work with real estate transactions and the buying and selling of property. The programme has a practical approach and provides students with a solid background regarding the role of the estate agent in everyday practice. Students will simultaneously acquire a practical understanding of economics and law. On completion of the study programme, students will have acquired a thorough background for their future work as an estate agent. Aim of the Programme

The study programme will provide students with a solid understanding of property transactions and the laws and regulations which govern the trade. Students will acquire practical experience in the mediation of property and in document administration, bookkeeping, economics, settlements following property sales and the management of clients’ funds.

Further Education opportunities

The study programme is associated with the 3-year Bachelor’s degree programme in Business Administration, and shares some of its courses with this programme. The programme also has some of its other courses in common with other study programmes at the university college.

The entire study programme consists of 180 ECTS credits, which is divided into 30 ECTS credits per semester. Successful candidates will receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Estate Agency.

The study programme consists of courses that are normally of one semester’s duration and comprise 3-10 hours of teaching per week. Each course provides credits that correspond to the workload required by the course.

Elective courses
The study programme offers suggestions for the choice of elective courses. However, for educational and professional purposes it is recommended that students select the courses Social Science Methods (code: 5553) and Business Strategy (code: 5205). Students may freely choose elective courses within the university college’s study programme; for more information, see the other study programmes at the university college. However, the study programme timetable and examination plan may restrict this choice. In some contexts, it will be important to ensure that you choose the right elective courses with regard to gaining admission to other study programmes; gaining qualifications in business administration; or transferring to a certified bookkeeper study programme.

Teaching and Learning Methods

A variety of teaching and learning methods will be used in the courses which are included in the study programme, including: lectures, seminars, group assignments, individual assignments and study trips. Students will be offered the opportunity to do practical work experience in the 6th semester. Traditional teaching methods may be supplemented by active use of e-mail, online tools and databased model tools.

Theory and Practical Training

The study programme has a theoretical basis, but emphasis will be given to using practical examples as far as possible in the teaching. In the last semester of the third year of study it will be possible to choose between a practical approach and a theoretical approach. Studies and practice in this semester may be carried out abroad.

Assessment Methods

Candidates’ knowledge of all the courses in the study programme will be evaluated. The university college will use a variety of assessment methods. The types of assessment used are explained in the course descriptions. Letter grades A-F will be used (where F represents a failing grade).

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
